ABOUT THE TEACHER~SOBRE LA MAESTRA
Welcome! My name is Christie Carnahan. I have been a part of Valley View's learning community for many years. The 23/24 school year will begin my 29th year of teaching and my 28th year at Valley View Elementary. This will be my 7th year teaching kindergarten. I have taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades as well. I have served as a part-time lecturer at CSU Eastbay, Hayward in Teacher Education. I'm among 1100 educators worldwide who are SMART Technologies Exemplary Educators. I was the Pleasanton Unified School District Teacher of the Year for the 2013/2014 school year. In 2021 I was named CSU Eastbay's Alumna of the Year for Education and Allied Studies.
¡Bienvenidos! Me llamo Christie Carnahan. Me siento muy orgullosa ser un miembro de la comunidad de aprendizaje de Valley View. El año escolar 23/24 empieza el año 29 de la enseñanza y el 7º año de enseñar kindergarten. He enseñado los grados 1º, 2º y 3º. Fui una profesora de parte tiempo en la universidad de California Estatal Eastbay en el departamento de Entrenamiento de Maestros. Fui la Maestra del Año del Distrito Unificado de Pleasanton para el año escolar de 2013-2014. En el año 2021 fui nombrada la Alumna del Año de la Universidad Estatal de California Eastbay en la Educación y Los Estudios Aliados.
A little about the personal side of me. My high school sweetheart and I have been married for almost 30 years. We have a son who just graduated high school and will be pre-med student in college in August. I have many hobbies that I love to do. My favorite hobby is spending time with my family, watching my son play baseball, going to the movies, cooking, baking and traveling to Disneyland. Personalmente, me casé con mi novio de la escuela secundaria y hemos sido casados por casi 30 años. Tenemos un hijo quien se graduó de la secundaria en mayo y va a entrar a la universidad en agosto estudiando la biología/pre-medico. Me encanta pasarme mi tiempo con mi familia, mirar mi hijo jugar béisbol, viendo películas, cocinando, horneando y viajando especialmente a Disneyland.
MY EDUCATION~MI EDUCACIÓN
I have done most of my educational studies at California State University, Hayward. It was there that I obtained my Master's degree is in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum; My BCLAD Multiple Subjects Bilingual Credential and Supplemental Credential in Spanish; and my BA in Liberal Studies with a Minor in Spanish. I also attended a few classes at Cal Berkeley and Humboldt State to clear my credential. I also have an Associate in Arts Degree from Las Positas College. Hice la mayoría de mis estudios educativos en la Universidad Estatal de California, Hayward. En la universidad obtuve mi Maestría en Ciencias de Educación y un enfocado en el Curriculum; mi credencial de la enseñanza BCLAD y mi credential suplementaria en Español y mi bachillerato en Los Estudios Liberales con un asignatura secundaria en Español. También asistí a unas clases en Cal Berkeley y Humboldt State para aclarar mi credential. Tengo una licenciatura en artes de colegio de Las Positas.
MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS~MIS LOGROS
I am one of the 2021 Distinguished Alumna for California State University Eastbay. I was among 76 educators worldwide to attend the Global SEE Summit for SMART technologies in July 2015 as a Peer Mentor. In July 2014 I also attend Global SEE summit. Teachers from all over the world were selected for these prestigious opportunities to learn, train and share educational technology ideas. I was the Teacher of the Year for the Pleasanton Unified School District for the 2013 school year. In May 2010 I was awarded the Pleasanton PTA Council's Excellence in Education Award. In May 2000 I was awarded the PPIE Excellence in Education Award. I have personally authored approximately $140,000+ in grants for my classroom and school.Fui elegida La Alumna Distinguida de la Universidad Estatal de California, Eastbay del 2021. Durante el verano del 2015 y 2014 fui elegida para la Conferencia de Alta Nivel de los Maestros Ejemplares Mundiales a la oficina central de SMART technologies. Habían 76 maestra de todo el mundo asistiendo a la conferencia. Tenía la oportunidad conocerme y enseñarles a las maestras. En 2000 gané el premio de PPIE de Excelencia en Educación para mi trabajo en el programa Inmersión Dual. En mayo del 2010 recibí el gran premio del Consejo de PTA de Pleasanton Excelencia en Educación. Escribí muchas becas para mi escuela y para mi salón y fui financiada por $140,000+.
